The committee was established in 1966 to provide the Postal Service with information, advice and recommendations covering the technical aspects of the mail system. This includes processing, transportation and distribution. MTAC's quarterly meetings in Washington provide a forum for the Postal Service and its customers to work together to increase efficiency. MSMA representatives sit on three key MTAC Subcommittees: First Class, Third Class and Automation and Technology. Presently, a member of the NJ Chapter was appointed by the National Board of MSMA to participate on the MTAC committee. Through MTAC, MSMA members can make direct input relative to Postal Service policies and procedures. In addition to MTAC, the NJ Chapter, with its 250 members, is appointed a seat on the MSMA National Board. The National Board of MSMA discusses issues that affect all chapters. Issues that are important to our chapter can be submitted by our delegate when the National Board meets. In the future, this chapter website will include interactive surveys to gather opinions and ideas from the membership. The results from these short surveys will be published on a monthly basis.
